VINANSIA.COM - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi confirmed that the airport in the new capital city (IKN), East Kalimantan, will be ready to accommodate flights, including the Presidential Aircraft, by early September 2024.
"The airport will be ready for the presidential aircraft by early September," Budi stated.
He emphasized the airport's readiness, including the runway, which was successfully tested on August 25.
President Joko Widodo is expected to relocate to IKN in September 2024, according to Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
The runway testing, involving a King Air 200 PK CAO calibration aircraft, proceeded smoothly. Both Ministers Budi and Basuki observed the proving flight, which is crucial for ensuring the new flight route's operational readiness.
