VINANSIA.COM - In 2024, Indonesia will celebrate its 79th Independence Day, marking a historic first as the festivities will be held in the new capital, Ibu Kota Negara (IKN) Nusantara, Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. Here's a breakdown of the budget allocated for this significant event.

Budget Details

The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) has allocated IDR 87 billion for the 79th Independence Day celebrations in IKN. This budget is notably higher than the IDR 53 billion spent on last year's Jakarta event.

According to Isa Rachmatarwata, Director General of Budget at Kemenkeu, the increase is due to several factors, including the purchase of new ceremonial equipment for IKN and the costs associated with hosting distinguished guests. Establishing these new ceremonial arrangements and infrastructure at IKN has been a substantial investment.

Ceremony Locations and Schedule

The Independence Day celebrations will occur in two locations: IKN Nusantara and the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The military ceremony will take place in IKN, while the public festivities will be held at the Merdeka Palace. 

President Joko Widodo and the president-elect for 2024-2029, Prabowo Subianto, will attend the ceremony in IKN, while Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and the vice president-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, will participate in the Jakarta events.

Event Preparations

Preparations for the IKN ceremony began symbolically with the flag handover parade at the National Monument in Jakarta on August 10, 2024. The ceremonial flag was then flown to IKN via Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

Paskibraka Ceremony

President Joko Widodo will also inaugurate 76 members of the Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibraka) for the 79th Independence Day ceremony in IKN on August 13, 2024. Each of Indonesia’s 38 provinces will send one male and one female representative.

With such a substantial budget and meticulous planning, the 79th Independence Day celebrations in IKN are expected to be a memorable and historic occasion for Indonesia.
