VINANSIA.COM - President Joko Widodo has addressed the speculation surrounding the potential restriction on subsidized fuel purchases scheduled for August 17.
Responding to queries, President Jokowi clarified that there are currently no plans for such restrictions on subsidized fuel purchases.
"No, no, no. There hasn't been any consideration towards that. We haven't even had a meeting about it," remarked Jokowi on Tuesday (16/7).
The clarification follows statements by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who recently disclosed the government's intention to begin tightening subsidized fuel purchases starting August 17, 2024.
This initiative aims to reduce the allocation of subsidies to ineligible recipients, with the regulations being prepared by PT Pertamina (Persero).
