VINANSIA.COM - The Rothschild conglomerate has made a significant investment of US$40 million to establish a new cable manufacturing plant in Batam. This new facility, operated by PT. Volex Indonesia, marks a major expansion of the company’s operations in the Sekupang Industrial Area. 

This move is part of PT. Volex Indonesia’s broader strategy to enhance production capabilities and expand its market reach across Southeast Asia.

The inauguration of the factory was a notable event, attended by several key figures. President-elect Prabowo Subianto was present at the ceremony and expressed his pride in the progress and achievements of PT. Volex Indonesia. 

In his speech, he highlighted that the new factory represents a significant advancement in the company’s production and its role in the local economy.

Muhammad Rudi, the head of the Batam Authority (BP Batam), also participated in the event. He emphasized BP Batam’s commitment to streamlining investment processes and improving the ease of doing business in Batam. 

This support is crucial for helping companies like PT. Volex Indonesia operate more effectively and grow within the region.

Nathaniel Philip Victor James Rothschild, Chairman of Volex PLC, was another prominent attendee. Rothschild, commonly known as "Nat," demonstrated his dedication to the project by hosting the opening ceremony and showing his commitment to the company’s success in Batam.

The factory’s opening ceremony included a symbolic gesture of the signing of a commemorative plaque by Prabowo Subianto and Kepri Governor Ansar Ahmad. 

This act marked the official launch of the new facility and underscored the importance of this investment for the local and regional economy. 

The event was also attended by other significant figures, including Kepri Police Chief Irjen Pol Yan Fitri Halimansyah and Batam Mayor Muhammad Rudi, reflecting the broad support for the investment.
