VINANSIA.COM - In 2025, President-elect Prabowo Subianto plans to take on new debt of Rp775.9 trillion, which is a big increase from the IDR 553.1 trillion expected for 2024. This debt will be made up of Rp133.3 trillion from loans and Rp642.5 trillion from issuing government bonds.
The loans will include Rp5.2 trillion from domestic sources and Rp128.1 trillion from international sources. The goal of this debt is to support the country's economic growth in a way that is both inclusive and sustainable.
The government says this borrowing will help meet the State Budget needs while keeping costs and risks manageable.
"Besides covering the State Budget, debt management will also help develop the domestic financial market," according to the 2025 State Budget Draft's Financial Note.
