The sacred monument of Sundanese people was vandalized! Former Chairman of West Java DPRD Demands Sanctions for Tangkuban Parahu Management.

VINANSIA.COM – Secretary General of Boma (Baresan Olot Indigenous Peoples) Eka Santosa issued a statement regarding the destruction of the Eyang Madfai (1897-1967) monument by unscrupulous security staff of the Mount Tangkuban Parahu natural tourism park (TWA).

The former Chairman of the West Java DPRD hopes that this case will be investigated until it is taken to the criminal track. He also asked the manager of PT GRPP as the manager to be evaluated and even revoked his management license by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry if there were indications that the destruction was carried out by order of management or management.

"Destroying the Eyang Madfai Monument is tantamount to injuring the history related to the civilization of the Sundanese people. Because Tangkuban Parahu is not only a tourist attraction and a symbol of science, but also has historical value related to the civilization of the Sundanese people, especially the indigenous people around Tangkuban Parahu," Eka said when contacted, Sunday (22/9).

He stated, it is fitting and a moral obligation of the Tangkuban Parahu TWA manager to respect and synergize with local wisdom values. If they cannot or even ignore it, he called on the manager to leave.

"We strongly condemn this disgraceful action, if you are unable to even ignore the local cultural values, it is better for the manager to leave immediately before the Olots take action, "explained Eka, who is also the Chairperson of the Javanese Forest Rescue Forum (FPHJ).

Pamangku Adat of Tangkuban Parahu Mountain, Budi Raharja demanded that the person who committed the vandalism not run away from responsibility because his actions had entered the criminal offense of Article 406 concerning destroying/damaging goods.

"The authorities must investigate the actions of this security officer. As an officer, he should have helped protect the monument, not vandalize it which is very offensive to the Sundanese community," said Budi.

The case of the destruction of the monument to Eyang Madfai who was the first caretaker of Mount Tangkuban Parahu occurred two weeks ago. The incident was witnessed by a witness and eventually reached Eyang Madfai's family.

Apart from the monument, the security guard also kicked the parukuyan or brazier used in traditional ritual ceremonies and Sundanese culture. A number of parties then condemned this disgraceful act in the Cikahuripan Sacred Water Bathing area.

"Of course, as descendants of Eyang Madfai, we feel hurt by what this person has done. This action should not be done for any reason," said the caretaker of Mount Tangkuban Parahu, Abah Suwandi.
