VINANSIA.COM - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), through its Task Force overseeing the Nusantara Capital (IKN) infrastructure, has confirmed that the Presidential Office and Palace in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, will be operational before Indonesia celebrates its Independence Day on August 17, 2024.

Danis Sumadilaga, Chair of the IKN Infrastructure Task Force, announced in Jakarta that preparations are on track: "The Presidential Office and Palace in IKN will be fully operational prior to the August 17 Independence Day festivities. The buildings and essential facilities are ready."

Sumadilaga also disclosed that loose furniture for the Presidential Office and Palace has already been delivered to IKN, according to the Presidential Secretariat (Setpres) and the State Secretariat (Setneg).

"The Presidential Secretariat has confirmed the arrival of essential furniture items at IKN," he added.

The Presidential Secretariat has begun installing furniture and office equipment to prepare for President Joko Widodo's relocation to the new administrative center.

Collaborating closely with the Ministry of PUPR, the Presidential Secretariat is ensuring all necessary amenities are in place for the President's office at IKN.

While key items such as desks, lamps, chairs, and office supplies have been procured, the procurement process is ongoing.

In addition to the preparations at IKN, Setpres is finalizing arrangements for Indonesia's 79th Independence Day celebrations, scheduled to be held at both IKN and Jakarta.

Further details regarding the Independence Day festivities will be revealed during a press briefing at the end of July.
